I was very happy this week. First reason is because I went back home ,shopping with my family, watching television with my siblings, chatting with my friends who lived in Butterworth. I am glad to celebrate Chinese New Year with my family.It was a sweet memory to me.
Last Sunday was the busiest day for my mother and me. It was Chinese New Year's eve. We were busy preparing food for New Year's eve dinner.Every year I will help my mother to prepare the food for steamboat which is are as hot pot, or sometimes Chinese Fondue(Huo Guo).Most of the chinese will have steamboat for their New Year's eve dinner. Steamboat ingredients include meat,chicken, leafy vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, noodles,fishballs or seafood. I prepared two types of soups for steamboat. I had a happy and warmly dinner with my family.
After dinner, I companied my siblings played firecrackers outside the house.My youngest brother was the happiest because he liked it very much.Before we went to sleep, my parent gave us New Year's money which known as "angpao" that we have been waiting with growing anticipation for this moment to arrive.The following day was Chinese New Year. The first thing we did was worshipping our ancestors followed by making New Year's visits to friends and relatives. I met many relatives that I seldom saw them.
There were a lot of activities to celebrate Chinese New Year such as the lively display of dragon dancing, lion dancing, and other folk activities. In my house had some rules which we cannot do in New Year. For example, floors may not be swept and garbage may not be disposed for fear of casting riches out the door, cussing and quarreling should be avoided and if anyone of us breaks a dish on this day must quickly say "Peace for all time," to avoid incurring misfortune. As a daughter of my parent ,I always obey and respect them .
I enjoyed Chinese New Year very much. I hope that I can celebrate this festival with my family every year.

Holidays
This week passed faster from Monday to Friday. It is wonderful that we don’t have class on Friday. So we can enjoyed our holidays started from Friday. My friend fetched me back to Ipoh on this morning at about 7 o’clock. We took about 2 hours to reach Ipoh. I stayed in her house for one night. This was the first time I stayed in my friend’s house. She brought me visited some places in Ipoh such as Ipoh Parade , Jusco ,and Gua Tempurung. All her family members are kind and friendly. I felt happy to have a chance for visiting her house.
We had our economic practice test. It is quiet hard for me because I never learn how to write an essay for economic. Our economic lecturer is a good and patient person. She always tries her best to give us some explaination and make sure we all understand her lesson. Although it was a holiday, but we still have a lot of homework. It made me feel sad. I had 35 questions for Physics, 14 questions for Applicable Maths and a draf and a documentary for English subject. Oh my god…that was my holidays.
My parent will come to Ipoh fetch me tomorrow. Actually I not really enjoy Chinese New Year every year because I will feel that I am becoming older. This feeling make me afraid to celebrate Chinese New Year. When I am small, I like Chinese New Year very much because of angpao ( red packet). But now it is not very important for me. Now I think that the most meaningful reason for celebrating Chinese New Year is to improve the relationship of all family members. This year I hope that Chinese New Year will come faster because I hope that I can go back home faster. I miss my family very much.
This week, we had a role play for novel entitle “Boy Tales of Childhood” in class .It was very funny. We supposed to find our group members and found a scene to play. My group decided to play a scene of accident which Dahl, the main character of the novel had cut off his nose. It was very interesting. We practiced together and discussed how should we performed. I acted as Dahl’s ancient-half brother. The role play helped us more understand about the story and it can improved friendships.
I also went to Neway in One Utama shopping mall. I had my dinner with my friend. We shopped around to find some new clothes although we already had a lot for Chinese New Year. I had a happy and grateful night shopping in One Utama.

This is the second week I stay in student house and study in KBU after I came back from Butterworth. Yesterday was my birthday .This is the first time I celebrated my birthday without my family . I miss them so much. I wish to listen my siblings sing birthday’s song for me. Its become a habit for me every year when my birthday. That was a special day because my birthday was same with my mother’s birthday . Every year we will celebrate our birthday together.
This year I celebrated my birthday with my friends in student house. They bought a cake for me .That was my favourite chocolate banana cake. They also bought a pair of shoes for me which I saw it last Saturday when we were shopping in Sungai Wang. I am happy that a have a group of good friends here. My classmate also sang a birthday’s song for me in class after school. Besides , my cousin also bought a gift for me which is a necklace . I like it very much. This week my class went to physics lab to carry out some experiments. It is quiet interesting. We learnt a lot things likes how to use a vernier caliper to measure length of object correctly, movement of tranverse waves and longitudinal waves.
For other subjects such as Chemistry, we had learnt about the concentration of solution while for application Maths , we learnt matrix. There were a lot of homework this week. There was quiet funny and interesting for English lesson. Every time when Mr Derick asked questions, there was a silence death in our class. Nobody will rise their hands to answer the questions. He will list some students to answer the questions . There was a punishment for students who don’t know how to answer the questions. It was an effective way to force our class students try their best to answer the question. But this way cannot used for a long time. I don’t know what is the better way because our class is really quiet.
When we had Physics class , I felt good about myself. Miss Say who was our Physics lecturer had gave us a quiz . Majority of our class students got full marks for the quiz. I think this is a good way that helps us made a revision for what we had learnt for this few weeks. There were also had some tests for us to make sure that we had pay attention and study what we had learnt. Although it made me felt pressure , but I liked this method to force myself work hard for it.
I enjoyed this week very much. I hope that our class lessons can be more interesting.

This is the first time I write a blog, I would like to talk somethings about myself. My name is Hooi Ying .I’m from Butterworth, Penang. There are a lot of famous and delicious food in my home town. That’s why I still can’t suit myself with KL food because it lack of home-feel food. Kuala Lumpur is more crowded than Penang and the things here are also more expansive than Penang. For example, a glass of fruits juice in ‘kopitiam’ costs RM1.50 in Penang while in KL it costs RM3.50.But KL is quiet a good place for students to study here because there are many advanced technology teaching materials here that make students more understand about the lessons. Morever, more people at KL communicate with English , that can help me to improve my speaking with using English.
My family consists of six members including me. My father is a businessman who sells electronic equipments while my mother is a housewife. I am the eldest child in my house followed by my sister who is sixteen years old another sister who is twelve years old. My brother is the youngest in our family. I like drawing and listening to music when I have free times. This will help me to release my tension and stress after a whole day study. Besides, I also like watching movie with my friends when free. I knew many friends since I studied in KBU International College in Julai of 2008.Most of them are JPA scholars. We will help each other when we do not understand the lessons. All of my friends are very hardworking , this forced me to work as hard as them to get a better result.
Now , I am still study in KBU International College which located in Petaling Jaya , near One Utama shopping mall. I always spend my weekends with my friends shopping there. Most of my friends stayed in student houses that prepared by JPA. It was a two and a half storey house seems like a banglow.It shocked me when the first time I saw it because it was very big and beautiful. There are fourteen students lived in one house while each house has five rooms. Besides school, I usually study in my room at the third floor in student house. Every day , I will spend at least two hours for revision, study and do my homework after school. Normally, I will study for one and a half hours without break. I think the best time for me to study is in the morning after I have my breakfast. This is because I feel more energenic and can be more concentrate to my study after I eat my breakfast.
I prefer study alone in room compared to group study because it make me feel more relax .I always feel stress when I study with my friends because I afraid I cannot do as well as them. I can’t concentrate to my study when there was a loud sound around me or people chatting beside me. Sometimes when I feel pressure , I will chat with my friends who stay in Butterworth and tell them my problems through handphone. They will always give me some advices . I also tell them about my life at here and we will share our secrets. Sometimes when the lecturer gives an assignments , firstly I will discuss with my friends and ask about their opinion. Secondly I will collect some data from references books before I do the assignment. It will take me about three hours to do the assignments. On average , I can do about two assignments in one evening.
I hope that I can do better in this new year because I believe that I can get better rewards as I work harder for it.I will try to improve my four language skills by read more , speak more and practise more.All this will help me do well in my exam. I also hope to attend a tuisyen class if i have a chance. But at student house, it is inconvinient to go any places without a car.Therefore I have no chance to go for a tuisyen. In summary , i will try my best in all subjects I have to study this year.
